What is an ATS?
An ATS (applicant tracking system) is the software many companies use to receive and organise applications. Depending on how it is configured, it may process, extract or sort the information in your resume before a person reads it.
Not all ATS platforms behave the same way, and no external tool can replicate the exact behaviour of each one. What is observable is the document itself: missing sections, inconsistent dates, text that is hard to extract or vague content all make automated interpretation harder — and human reading too.

Each category starts at 100 and loses a fixed amount for every issue found, based on its severity. The overall score is the weighted mean of the four:

The role of AI
It interprets; it does not invent
Measurable checks (sections, dates, lengths, duplicates) are done by deterministic code. When available, AI adds an interpretation layer: it explains how each area reads, flags vague or ambiguous passages and suggests actions. If AI fails, the analysis is still delivered with the deterministic findings.

Data
What happens to your resume when you analyze it
- This page analyzes nothing and sends no data: it is static content.
- Running the analysis requires a free account, because it works on your resume.
- When you run it, the resume content (profile, experience, education, skills and languages) is sent to our server and from there to our AI provider. No document ids, account ids or session data are sent.
- The result (score and findings) is stored with that resume in your account so you can review it later. It is deleted when you delete the resume or your account.

- What is an ATS?

- How can I tell if my resume is ATS-compatible?
- There is no binary answer valid for every system. What you can do is review the document: check that it has the usual sections, readable contact details, consistent dates, extractable text and concrete content. That is what SmartVitae evaluates.

- Does the ATS score guarantee my resume will pass a filter?
- No. It is an indicative assessment of how readable your document is. We do not know how each company's ATS is configured, and we do not predict application outcomes or guarantee interviews.
- Can I analyze a resume I already have?
- Yes. You can import your resume as a PDF: SmartVitae extracts the text and turns it into an editable resume. From there the analysis works just like with one built from scratch.
- Does SmartVitae modify my resume automatically?
