ATS resume templates

Resume templates built to be read by ATS software and by people

All four SmartVitae templates use one column, standard section headings and real selectable text — the layout choices that keep a resume parsable. Explore them here with sample content and start with the one that fits your profile.

How to choose

What makes a resume template ATS-friendly

Beyond personal taste, these are the layout decisions that keep a resume readable for whoever opens it — and extractable for the software that parses it first.

One column, one reading order

Side-by-side columns, tables and text boxes can scramble the order in which text is extracted. All four templates keep a single flow.

Standard section headings

Profile, experience, education, skills and languages, named the way a parser expects to find them.

Real, selectable text

Nothing is baked into an image: the name, contact line and every bullet are text a parser can pull out.

Clear hierarchy

Name, role and sections should be distinguishable at a glance without competing with each other.

Readability

Text sizes and spacing that are comfortable to read both on screen and on paper.

Fit to your content

With a long career, a denser template helps; with a shorter one, a more open layout breathes better.

A template can only protect the layout side of parsing. Separately, the SmartVitae ATS analysis reviews concrete structure, parsing, content and skills issues in your own document.

FAQ

Common questions about ATS resume templates

Are these ATS resume templates?
They are built with ATS parsing in mind: editorial, modern, classic and compact all use a single column, standard section headings, dated roles and selectable text rather than images. That removes the most common reasons information gets lost. No template can guarantee the result of a specific company's ATS, because nobody outside that company knows how it is configured.
Which of the four templates is best for ATS?
None of them is structurally safer than the others: the four render the same sections in the same order through the same engine, and differ only in typography, spacing and accent colour. Classic is the plainest and compact fits the most content per page, so pick on presentation and length, not on parsing.
Which resume template should I choose?
It depends on your content and context. With a lot of experience and little space, the compact one helps; for a soberer presentation, the classic; for a more crafted composition, the editorial or the modern. No template is universally best.
Can I change template later?
Yes. The template is a property of the document: you can switch it in the editor whenever you want and your content stays intact.
Can I customise the content?
Yes. You edit profile, experience, education, skills and languages in the editor, with a real-time A4 preview.
Can I export my resume as a PDF?
Yes. The editor exports a vector PDF with selectable text, following the template you chose.
Can I create a resume without an account?
You can open the editor and work on your resume without an account. To save it and come back to it later you need a free account; when you sign up, the resume you were working on is kept.
